ScamCheck looks at every link, app file and unknown call before it can hurt you. It works offline, needs no account and keeps no personal data.

Coming to Google Play · October 2026 See how it works

  • Warns you about a fake link before it opens
  • Finds risky apps hiding on your phone
  • Walks you through what to do if money has already gone

Animated examples, one per scam: a fake bank link, an app file on WhatsApp, a Telegram trading group, a job-offer email, a password-reset email, a "digital arrest" call, an OLX buyer, a parcel fee, an electricity bill threat, a festival offer, a loan app, a "new number" family emergency, a fake customer-care number and a tax refund. In each, Meera stays calm, lets ScamCheck check the link, file, number or message, and loses nothing. Genuine messages are checked too and come out fine.

An unknown number. The bait arrives.

What this page already knows about you

Nothing here was asked for. It travels with every page you open, and a scam page reads it just as easily. That's why a message naming your phone, your city or your network proves nothing.

Reading your connection…

Place and network come from your connection, read by the server for this visit only. Nothing is stored.

How it works

Three ways it protects you

Scams in India arrive as a link on WhatsApp, an app file "from the bank", or a call from the "police". ScamCheck sits in front of all three.

Link Guard

Make ScamCheck your default browser and every link you tap in WhatsApp, Messages or Chrome passes through it first. Trusted sites open at once, with their tracking tags removed. A fake one shows a warning sheet instead.

Also works from the Share button, by pasting a link, or by selecting text and choosing "Check with ScamCheck".

Phone Health Check

Finds apps that came from a file instead of the Play Store, apps hiding their icon, and apps that took Accessibility, SMS or device-admin powers. Each one has a button that opens the exact Settings page to fix it.

Also checks for a missing screen lock and an old security patch.

Rescue mode

"I've been scammed" opens a checklist: call 1930, block the card or UPI with your bank's own fraud line, remove the bad app, change PINs, warn your contacts. Each step has a button and a tick.

Works offline. The first hour matters most.

App file checkOpen an .apk with ScamCheck and it tells you who really signed it, what powers it asks for, and whether it matches known malware.
Call warningA heads-up when a caller is a foreign number or one many people reported. Nothing is blocked, ever.
Community reportsSee the sites people in your state are reporting this month. No names, no numbers, no accounts.
Daily tipOne short tip a day, the same for everyone, written for India.

Read a link the way ScamCheck does

The only part that tells you who you're really visiting sits just before the first slash, read from the right. Everything before it is decoration anyone can type. Paste a link to see it taken apart, part by part, and get a clean copy without the trackers.

This looks at the address only. The app also checks lists of known scam sites, how new the site is, and the page itself. It never calls anything "safe".

Remove trackers from a whole message

Paste a message with links in it. Every link comes back clean and the rest of your text stays exactly as it was. Short links can be opened up to show the real link, and links that look like scams turn red.

The tracker rules partly follow Untracker and the link parts follow URLCheck, two open-source Android apps. All of it runs in your browser: nothing you paste is sent anywhere. The ScamCheck app cleans links with the same rules.

Twelve short messages, three hearts, two big buttons. Made for kids and grandparents as much as for you: pick who's playing and the game picks its messages and its pace. Play it together, then swap phones.

How to play: read the message, tap Scam! or Genuine. Three wrong and the round ends. After every answer you get the one rule to remember, in English and Hindi.

Stay safe

Five rules that stop most scams

  1. Nobody genuine ever asks for your OTP, PIN or CVV. Not your bank, not the police, not "Google Pay support". The moment someone asks, it's a scam.
  2. A UPI PIN only ever sends money. You never enter a PIN, or scan a QR code, to receive money or a refund. UPI PIN
  3. There is no "digital arrest". Police, CBI, customs and courts never arrest anyone on a video call, and never ask for money to clear your name. Hang up and call 1930. ‘डिजिटल अरेस्ट’ जैसी कोई चीज़ नहीं होती। फ़ोन काटिए और 1930 पर कॉल कीजिए।
  4. A file ending in .apk is an app, not a document. "Wedding card.apk", "SBI Rewards.apk", "RTO Challan.apk" are all apps that read your SMS. Install apps only from the Play Store. ‘.apk’ फ़ाइल एक ऐप है, शादी का कार्ड या चालान नहीं।
  5. Read the site name just before the first slash. sbi.co.in.kyc-update.top is a .top site, not SBI. When in doubt, type the address yourself or open the company's app.

Know the common scams

If money has already gone

Do these in order. The first hour matters most: money that is reported fast is often frozen before the scammer can take it out.

  1. Call 1930 (the national cybercrime helpline) or report at cybercrime.gov.in. Keep the complaint number.
  2. Block the card or UPI. Use the number on the back of your card or your bank's own app. Never a number from a search result or from the scammer.
Bank fraud lines (copied from each bank's site on 19 Sep 2026)
    • SBI 1800 11 1109
    • HDFC Bank 1800 1600
    • ICICI Bank 1800 1080
    • Axis Bank 1800 209 5577
    • Kotak Mahindra Bank 1800 209 0000
    • Punjab National Bank 1800 1800
    • Bank of Baroda 1800 5700
    • Canara Bank 1800 1030
    • Union Bank of India 1800 22 22 44
    • PhonePe 080 6872 7374
    • Google Pay 1800 419 0157
  3. Keep the proof. Screenshots of the messages, the number, the link, the transaction IDs. Don't delete the chat.
  4. Remove the app, if you installed one. Turn off its Accessibility and device-admin access first, then uninstall. If it won't let you, restart the phone in Safe Mode and uninstall from there. The app's Phone Health Check does this with buttons.
  5. Change your UPI PIN and passwords on a different, clean phone if you can. Check WhatsApp's "Linked devices" and log out anything you don't know.
  6. Warn your contacts. Scam apps forward themselves to everyone in your phone.
  7. Ignore "recovery agents". Anyone who calls offering to get your money back for a fee is the next scam.
